Holiday Beauty Countdown
2019 is nearly upon us, which means Christmas is coming!
I have always loved the holiday season as a child. Family and friends would gather around to send their sincere wishes to one another. It is also THE season of gifting, which is also the best time to reward yourself for that one year of hard work. For all beauty junkies, here's a list of end-year beauty launches to prepare that wishlist of yours!
I am thrilled that NARS has launched its new edition of mascara: The Climax Mascara. Since my lashes are thin and not the longest, I would always need a few coating of a volumized formula mascara to see the effect. Being so picky, many mascaras that I’ve tried over the years were thrown out. However, with the ‘Climax’, the effect was instant. It was light and airy, and no matter how many layers were applied it does not get clumpy. Point: It is also long-lasting with no smudges which is great because I have oily eyelids.
If you are a K-beauty lover, you would have known about the arrival of Gesgep. This Korean beauty brand is founded by two influential Korean celebrity makeup artists, Son Dae Silk and Park Tae Yoon. My favourite is the beautiful gold makeup palette that is fully customisable. If you are not sure what combination works best for you, opt for the existing set curated by the Gesgep beauty team instead. Since it's the Christmas season, I would suggest going for the Mystic Palette for its opulent choice of purple shade and pair it with a muted mauve tone from the Lip Fresco series.
Gesgep is available at escentials Paragon, Metro Causeway Point, Woodlands Square and will retail on www.escentials.com from November 2018.
Besides the usual gifts, the holiday season is also a season of remembrance and gratitude. Serge Lutens says it all with its latest edition of Le Participe Passé. The resinous wood chypre scent tells the story of our life. Each note of the scent is sensual and contradicting which indicates the sweet nothings and bitter memories of our everyday life. The top notes of artemisia and bergamot possess a sweet and musky scent, while the middle notes include a sensual peppery and fruity notes. The base note is subtle but rich, comprising of Egyptian balsam, resins, caramel, cumin, leather and patchouli.
Our skin tends to be much drier towards the end of the year when the weather gets colder. Kenzoki launches the mask just in time for us to start healing our skin before the holidays arrive. The Moisturising Lotus Mask hydrates intensively and protects the skin from any external aggressions. This protection is vital; we are exposed to UV rays daily and a generous amount of makeup that easily dries our skin. This mask contains Lotus plant essence and an abundant amount of Hyaluronic acid that traps in moisture and hydrates our skin more effectively.
In the spirit of gifting, this is one pampering gift for your family and friends. The Simply Radiant Gift Set consists of a Muslin Cloth, Cleanser, Radiance Lift Cream, Radiance Face Mist, Radiance Face Oil. It also includes the Eve Lom Iconic Cleanser that is packaged as an ornament. I love this little detail that is the essence of Christmas.
Earlier this month, HERA muse Gianna Jun Ji-Hyun made her special appearance to commemorate the opening of the first flagship boutique in Ion Orchard. With much anticipation, HERA also launched its latest beauty creations: The UV Mist Cushion and Lip Gel Crush. Themed around the glowing functionality, the UV Mist Cushion edition has been improved. I love that it brightens up my skin with a subtle glow. It became my new favourite from HERA after I got to try it out during the HERA Seoul Fashion Week. The natural-looking glow will keep you looking picture ready throughout the night of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Note: I rarely use Korean BB cushions because of it’s sheer coverage and ability to withstand humidity. However, the HERA one is on par with my go-to YSL, Dior and Chanel BB cushions.
