Ah, sounds familiar? I dreaded hearing that sound because of the association to painful mornings at 5.45am, clipping my fringe up and dragging my feet to school. For most of us, the classic black snap clips played a significant role in our formative years.

Back in the 90s, they were the essentials in keeping our bangs and flyaways out of sight- especially during morning school assembly! Growing up in a convent school, it was the battle of the hairstyles. There were only so many hairstyles one could wear to differentiate herself from the others. I would always have new clips and braid styles. Decorating my hair was the only way I could “dress up” because uniforms were mandatory.. So when I started noticing that the clip trend have made a comeback, I'm more thrilled than ever!

This season, it has evolved into decorative pieces. With details like embellished pearls and crystals, these hair adornments have replicated 90’s chic. I’ve picked out a few of my favourite hair pieces below! Here’s a tip: I find that these clips hold on better with hair that has not been washed in a day. Alternatively, on fresh hair that has been set with voluminizing spray or dry shampoo.
