Splash! That is the sound of the waves that hits the sun-bleached sand on the beach. And yes, that is the scene of the spectacular Chanel RTW Spring Summer Runway. As Karl Lagerfeld unveils his latest collection at the Grand Palais, he has transported us to the seaside that includes a moving tide-line. The guests were seated on wood pallets on top of the sand as they watched the models stroll across “a beach”. These are some of the trend highlights from the #CHANELbythesea collection that the Madame Monsieur herself will love. The collection hit stores February 2019.

Soft Shoulder Silhouette

Even though this is a Spring Summer show, a Chanel collection is not complete without signature tweed blazers and long sleeve knit tops. Reviving the early 90s trend, the blazers are a softened version of strong power looks with a rounder and seemingly oversize silhouette. I love the unique waterproof and utilitarian blazer-skirt ensemble that Chanel showcased in this collection.

Beach Themed Accessories

Whether or not you like the beach, this Chanel collection is inspired of all elements of the beach! Introducing the new bag style, a 2-in-1 flap bag that is adjustable! More is definitely more. This season is a slight continuation of last Chanel SS18’s PVC trend (remember the rainbow PVC flap bags), this season, it was once again translated into the accessories. The PVC bag of SS19 comes with an oversized pearl detail which will be a hit on social media. Key accessories include CHANEL straw visors, straw hats and the beach ball cross-body bag.

No-Shoe Shoes

Every season, the Chanel show will show a one-style shoe that the models will wear, regardless of the outfit. And since walking on the sand in heels is seemingly impossible, the models went barefoot! The models walked down either holding PVC sandals or had the sandals clipped onto their bags. One of my favourites is the clear PVC double C logo slider that comes in an array of colours such as pink, blue and black. Take a closer look at the shoes and the details on the sandals is to mimic the no-shoe beach look. The shoes are also a continuity of last season’s PVC knee high boot! What is on your wishlist? Leave it on the comments below!

The RTW collection has ended beautifully with Chanel; as the fashion month is coming to an end, there is no better way to bid adieu than with Chanel.
