Bottega Veneta Resort 2020: The Reconstruction
Daniel Lee has done it again.
His envision for Bottega Veneta upon his appointment was never a disappointment- especially those who desire for the old-Celine aesthetic that included a touch of sophistication. Sure enough, Bottega Veneta’s 2020 Resort Collection was indeed another marvellous work of art.
The collection was simple- with a tint of humour that echoes Milan's culture of fun and joy. That said, you can expect the colour palette of this collection to be filled with neutral tones (duck egg blue!!!) and occasional pop of colours.
Another highlight of the collection is the silhouettes. The shapes are eased and relaxed; most of the designs feature soft geometrical or boxy cuts. Nevertheless, the tailoring remains flattering against the overtly suit sets and trenches.
The collection also emphasizes on the construction of the house's signature Intrecciato on knits. Starting with the leather- an area of Bottega Veneta's expertise- it was presented diagonally in the form of the iconic rattan-esque gridding on trenches, jeans and even on a statement gold-sequinned dress! Knitted dresses are also draped against the skin with knots on the waist for a flattering silhouette.
And of course, how can we forget about the bags? Pushing the boundaries of the house's Intrecciato DNA, Daniel Lee continues to create more intricate and compelling designs. Following the introduction of The Pouch in Spring 2019, the resort collection presents the Veneta bag in the same aesthetic. This Resort season also key pieces such as the knotted clutch that loops around the wrist.
One interesting detail is the wrap-around mules with ankle bracelets which is styled with pants tucked in. This styling option has already started trends all over the streets and on Instagram!
